2019 Toyota RAV4 vs. 2018 Toyota RAV4

Exterior Updates

First off, let’s take a look at the exterior of the RAV4. The exterior has been updated from the 2018 model.

For example, the 2019 model will be on Toyota’s TNGA K global platform to allow the 2019 RAV4 to be bigger than the 2018 version. The 2019 RAV4 will have a wheelbase that is 1.2 inches longer than the 2018 RAV4. The 2019 RAV4 will also have 19-inch wheels for the first time because of its bigger platform and wheelbase.

However, even though the 2019 model will be slightly bigger, it will still be a bit lighter than the 2018 version. The Toyota team says there will be about a 4% weight reduction for the 2019 Toyota RAV4.

As for the exterior styling, the 2019 model will see some changes as well. Instead of the rounded front end that the 2018 model had, the 2019 model will have a squared-off front end. For 2019, you will also see new headlights and a more aggressive grille. The foglights are also higher up on the front fascia. The 2019 RAV4 has an overall more athletic look.

Interior Changes

The interior of the 2018 Toyota RAV4 is a good one. It provides you with a comfortable and relaxing driving experience with good features and technology.

However, for 2019 the Toyota RAV4 sees some interior updates. Some of these updates include a standard moonroof and a standard Digital Display Rearview Mirror. Also, you can find an all-new available JBL audio system.

Other interior changes include a more spacious back cabin including more hip and legroom for second-row passengers. The center console between the front seats was also updated giving you more storage space as well as side-by-side cup holders and an available Qi wireless charger.

The 2018 Toyota RAV4 comes with a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 176-horsepower. This engine is paired with a six-speed transmission.

For 2019, the Toyota RAV4 has a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is said to give a 15% increase in horsepower. Also, the transmission from the 2018 RAV4 has been replaced with an eight-speed automatic transmission. This vehicle is also said to have great fuel economy, but we will have to wait for specific numbers on that.
