America's Best-Selling Compact SUV is All New
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is now 100% electrified. Options include a hybrid electric vehicle or a plug-in hybrid electric powertrain. The first-ever GR Sport trim was developed in collaboration with Toyota GAZOO Racing. It features GR-inspired handling, an aggressive exterior design, and a thrilling PHEV powertrain with all-wheel drive.
The RAV4 Woodland grade comes in the HEV or PHEV layout with standard AWD. It will feature a standard higher ride height, all-terrain tires, and a split grille. This marks the debut of the 6th-generation PHEV powertrain, which now produces up to 320 horsepower and offers 20% more electric driving range.
New Generation of Tech
The RAV4 HEV models will move into the 5th generation of the hybrid system and get a boosted output of 236 horsepower on AWD models and 226 horsepower on FWD models. FWD is available on the RAV4 Hybrid for the first time.
This new generation will also see Toyota's Arene software development platform launch, enabling Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and a new generation of the Toyota Audio Multimedia system. This software platform is Toyota's first step toward fully integrating software into vehicles, including safety, security, and connectivity.
The 2026 Toyota RAV4 is Updated Inside and Out
The Toyota RAV4's debut for the 1996 model year changed the market in a significant way. Designed on a unibody platform shared with the Corolla sedan, it tapped into a unique segment of drivers who wanted car-like handling with SUV utility.
The RAV4 has evolved considerably over the last five generations; the sixth generation is no exception. The new exterior design highlights the RAV4's SUV heritage with larger tires and an elevated ride. Several options across trims allow buyers to customize the RAV4's look to their preference.
Inside, the RAV4 prioritizes function over form with a mix of comfort and intuitive technology. The center stack features most functions in a group, including the touchscreen display and drive mode selection. Some models also include Toyota's new shift-by-wire system for a futuristic feel.
Model Choices Abound
It's no secret that the new RAV4 is rife with choices. For the first time, you can opt for FWD on the hybrid LE, XLE, and SE grades, and the AWD system is now offered on all grades. The upholstery ranges between fabric and SofTex and will offer a choice of colors, including a new Mineral color on the Woodland trim.
Several exterior colors are available, including an exclusive new Urban Rock color for the Woodland model. You can also opt for two-tone paint combinations, including the exclusive Supersonic Red with a black roof for the GR Sport.
