The interior of the Corolla has had a complete overhaul and will give you maximum comfort from the second you sit down in the driver’s seat. Representative of the current trend of technology making our lives easier behind the wheel by improving the overall driving experience. The Entune Premium Audio System really takes that to the next level. Offered in the XLE and XSE models, it comes with a 7-inch touch screen display, back-up camera, and Integrated Navigation allowing you to have all the tools you need to keep your drive smooth and easy.
The connectivity is another fantastic feature in this car. The Integrated Bluetooth technology allows you to drive, take calls and stream music, all without ever needing to take your phone out of your pocket. Should you need to, the USB port will allow you to stay charged for when the ride is over and you have to step out. You also get the integrated backup camera, advance voice recognition, and steering wheel controls (to keep you focused, of course) - all standard. The wheel controls help you stay in charge of the vehicle, without taking your eyes off the road, and the 2019 Corolla also comes with the Smart Key System featuring Push Button Start. You can lock all doors (including the trunk) and start the car -- all with the simple push of a button.
SE vs. XSE Trim Levels
The difference between the SE and XSE trims is fairly minimal. Although you’ll spot some differences regarding offered features, most do come standard in both models; however, the biggest discrepancies between the two are found in the price and MPG.
SE
The exterior of this model boasts multi-LED headlights and LED accent lights, bumper integrated Daytime Running Lights (DRL), a sporty front with a glossy black and mesh-pattern grille, and 17-inch machined alloy wheels with black painted accents, to mention a few. The power tilt/slide sunroof with a sliding sun shade, automatic climate with a pollen and dust filter and push button controls, and the Entune Audio keeps you as connected as ever. The SE also has a sport instrumentation cluster with the chrome plated speedometer and tachometer, as mentioned earlier. The 2019 Toyota Corolla SE is also equipped with Toyota Safety Sense, which includes pre-collision warning with pedestrian detection, lane departure with steering assist, and eight airbags, including driver/passenger Advance Airbag Systems. All of this, along with fuel economy rated at 27 city/35 hwy/30 combined mpg, starts at $21,865.
XSE
The XSE comes with all of those features and more. Chrome-tipped exhaust, rear spoiler, moonroof, and heated outside mirrors with turn signal indicators - represent only a few. Inside, you have the option of adding the Entune Premium Audio with Integrated Navigation and Entune Suite App. The front driver seat is an 8-way power adjustable seat and the passenger seat is a 4-way adjustable seat with a seat back pocket to round out the inside.
As far as safety goes, the XSE is loaded with features that come standard in most Toyotas, which continue to make it one of the safest vehicles on the road. All of these options and more with 28 city/35 hwy/31 combined mpg are available at the starting MSRP of $22,880.
Between the two, it really comes down to the price. You get a lot of things standard in both, but the XSE comes with those few extra upgrades that make it worth the higher price tag.
Performance/Economy
The look of the Corolla has changed the most over the last 50 years. But the 2019 body style will really get your blood pumping and make you want to jump in and go.
