The Avalon is just a little bigger than the Camry. It fits into the full-size sedan market where the Camry is a mid-size car. The base four-cylinder delivers 205 horsepower, but if you like a sportscar-like feel, a 301 horsepower V-6 gets you 301 horsepower. It also comes with a fuel-sipping hybrid that delivers 208 horsepower.

The V-6 is the base powertrain for the Avalon, and it also has a hybrid setup, but it delivers 215 horsepower under the hood of the larger sedan.

Luxury Accommodations No Matter Which Way You Turn

Both the Camry and the Avalon give their riders an upscale place to spend time, but the Avalon has a slight edge here. When you sit down in its cabin, you’re surrounded by premium materials and some extra features. Your rear seat passengers will appreciate the heated rear seats, and your front seat passenger can adjust their seat’s lumbar support.

The Camry’s no slouch when it comes to cabin features, though. It offers leather upholstery in the higher trims, and you can get a power-adjustable passenger seat, just not with the extra lumbar support.

Sporty or Luxury: Which Do You Like Better

When it's time to choose between the Camry and the Avalon, if you like sporty over luxury, the Camry is the answer. While the overall look of the Camry is sleeker than the Avalon, its sportiness is further enhanced with the TRD trim. This model rides lower, has a large rear wing, and has an optional two-tone paint finish. Inside, you'll find TRD-specific simulated leather on the seats and racy red seat belts.
